Bible Based Curriculum
Rockland Academy’s program consists of Bible based curriculum for students K -12. We operate under the authority of A.C.E (Accredited Christian Education). The main concept of this program is that students start with their current skills level and move up with continuous progress until skills are mastered. Depending on their ability and motivation levels, students may move ahead rapidly or take as long as necessary, but each student masters the material.
As the student moves upward, level after level, and moves into new concepts, they are far better prepared to learn because they have mastered the skill on the previous level. Advancement does not occur until a concept has been mastered. Students are not lock stepped with their classmates, but are learning individually and completely before advancing.
What Does This Look Like?
At Rockland Academy, students will be placed in one of three classrooms. Due to the individualized program and curriculum, there is not a need for a designated ‘classroom’ or ‘teacher’ for every grade. Students will be learning and building skills at their own pace and will be encouraged to work together with teachers and peers. Students will be tested to see at which level they will start for each skill. Think back to the old one room schoolhouses where everyone was being educated together. Our desire is to improve and build upon this concept with highly educated teachers and monitors to help students succeed at each educational level.
